Water softener

Water softener is a unit used to remove calcium and magnesium ions from water, widely used in industrial and household fields to reduce scale formation and improve water quality. The followings are some detailed information about the water softener:

 

1. Working principle

The water softener mainly achieves the effect of softening water through ion exchange technology. The core principle is to use sodium cation exchange resin to replace calcium (Ca ² ⁺) and magnesium (Mg ² ⁺) ions in water with sodium (Na ⁺) ions, thereby reducing the hardness of water.

Inlet: Hard water enters the water softener.

Exchange process: Sodium ions on the resin undergo exchange reactions with calcium and magnesium ions in water.

After treatment, it is soft water coming out.

 

2. Main components

Resin tank: filled with cation exchange resin, used for ion exchange.

Salt box: stores regenerated salt (usually table salt) used to restore the exchange capacity of resin.

Controller: controls the operating cycle, regeneration time, and flow rate of the water softener.

 

3. Advantages

Preventing scale: effectively reducing the accumulation of scale in pipelines, water heaters, and other equipment.

Improve washing effect: Soft water can better dissolve laundry detergent or soap, improving cleaning efficiency.
